How to Make Homemade Meatloaf

Step 1: Mix the ingredients

Don't lose this recipe! Drop your email and we'll send it to you, so you've got it handy the next time you're planning dinner.

In a large mixing bowl, add your ground meat, egg, Worcestershire sauce, and ketchup. Begin mixing everything together. The mixture will be pretty wet at first, so add your packet of crackers and seasonings. Mix everything thoroughly until all the ingredients are well combined.

Step 2: Prepare the meatloaf

Preheat your oven to 400°F. While the oven heats, transfer your meat mixture into a medium-sized casserole dish. Press the mixture evenly into the dish.

Squirt ketchup over the top of the meatloaf, spreading it evenly until the entire surface is covered.

Step 3: Bake

Cover the casserole dish tightly with aluminum foil and place it in the preheated oven. Bake for approximately 1 hour, checking the internal temperature to make sure the meatloaf reaches 160°F for ground beef or pork.

Step 4: Check for excess grease

After about 30 minutes, carefully check your meatloaf. You may notice that it has shrunk a little and released some grease into the dish.

If there is excess grease, carefully remove the dish from the oven and let it rest briefly before handling. Avoid pouring grease down the sink, even with hot water running. Instead, allow it to cool and dispose of it in the trash.

Step 5: Serve and enjoy!

Once your meatloaf is fully cooked, let it rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve it with your favorite sides, such as roasted potatoes and pinto beans, and enjoy a comforting homemade meal!
