Pineapple Peach Dump Cobbler

Canned crushed pineapple supplies the liquid that hydrates cake mix, while drained canned peaches keep the filling from becoming soupy. Pecans add crunch across the buttery top. This dump cobbler is built in layers and never stirred, but the ingredients still need careful, even coverage before the pan goes into the oven.

Ingredients

  • 1 can 20 oz crushed pineapple in juice, undrained
  • 2 cans 15 oz each sliced peaches in juice, drained and chopped
  • 1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 box 15.25 oz yellow cake mix
  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 12 tbsp unsalted butter melted

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 350°F and butter a 9-by-13-inch baking dish.
  2. Spread the pineapple with its juice across the bottom, then distribute the peaches over it and sprinkle with brown sugar.
  3. Cover the fruit with an even layer of dry cake mix without stirring.
  4. Scatter the pecans across the mix and drizzle melted butter slowly over the whole surface.
  5. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes until the top is deep golden with no powdery patches and fruit bubbles at the edges.
  6. Rest for 25 minutes before serving so the pineapple-peach filling settles.
