Pepperoni Pizza Dip

Pepperoni Pizza Dip

This dip keeps the recognizable pizza layers: seasoned tomato sauce on the bottom, hot cheese in the middle and crisped pepperoni added late. Turkey or pork pepperoni both work, but blotting the slices after a quick skillet sear keeps orange grease from pooling over the mozzarella.

Ingredients

  • 1 package 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup whole-milk ricotta
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 cups thick pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded low-moisture mozzarella
  • 1/2 cup finely grated Parmesan
  • 4 oz sliced pepperoni
  • Toasted baguette slices for serving

Method

  1. Stir the cream cheese, ricotta, Italian seasoning and garlic powder together and spread in a 3-quart slow cooker.
  2. Spread the pizza sauce over the cheese mixture, then cover with mozzarella and Parmesan.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 1 1/2 hours until hot and melted.
  4. Meanwhile, crisp the pepperoni in a dry skillet, then blot it on paper towels.
  5. Scatter the pepperoni over the dip, switch the cooker to warm and serve with toasted baguette slices.
