Honey Almondmilk Flat White

Honey Almondmilk Flat White

Almond milk foams less readily than dairy milk, so this drink uses a short, vigorous froth and a spoonful of honey dissolved in the coffee. Two concentrated shots keep the nutty milk from dominating. A pinch of salt sharpens the honey and makes the cup taste sweeter without adding more.

Ingredients

  • 2 shots espresso or 1/4 cup very strong coffee
  • 2 tsp honey
  • Tiny pinch of kosher salt
  • 1/2 cup barista-style almond milk

Method

  1. Stir the hot espresso, honey and salt together in an 8-ounce cup.
  2. Heat the almond milk to 140°F, avoiding a simmer.
  3. Froth for 15 seconds until glossy and lightly aerated.
  4. Tap the milk vessel to break large bubbles and pour steadily into the coffee.
