Garlic Ranch Party Mushrooms

Whole mushrooms absorb garlic butter and ranch seasoning while staying easy to spear with a toothpick. They release plenty of liquid, so no broth belongs in the crock. A short uncovered finish concentrates the buttery juices and keeps the appetizer from looking like mushroom soup.

Ingredients

  • 3 lb small white or cremini mushrooms cleaned and trimmed
  • 8 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 1 packet 1 oz dry ranch seasoning
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp chopped flat-leaf parsley optional

Method

  1. Place the cleaned mushrooms in a 4-quart slow cooker.
  2. Whisk the melted butter, ranch seasoning, garlic, Worcestershire and pepper and pour over the mushrooms.
  3. Cover and cook on high for 2 to 2 1/2 hours, stirring twice, until the mushrooms are tender.
  4. Uncover and cook on high for 15 minutes so some liquid evaporates.
  5. Switch to warm, add parsley if using and serve with a slotted spoon or toothpicks.
