Caramel Apple Dump Cake

Caramel sauce runs between apple pie filling and spice cake mix, forming chewy browned edges without a candy thermometer. Use a thick dessert sauce rather than a thin coffee syrup. The four ingredients are already sweet, so the pan needs no extra sugar and is best served in modest portions.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans 21 oz each apple pie filling
  • 3/4 cup thick caramel dessert sauce
  • 1 box 15.25 oz spice cake mix
  • 12 tbsp unsalted butter melted

Method

  1. Heat the oven to 350°F and spread the apple pie filling in a 9-by-13-inch baking dish.
  2. Drizzle caramel sauce across the apples and cover with an even layer of dry spice cake mix.
  3. Pour melted butter slowly over the entire top without stirring the layers.
  4. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes until the crust is browned and caramel-apple filling bubbles through the edges.
  5. Rest 35 minutes before serving.
