Black-and-White Milkshake

Black-and-White Milkshake

A black-and-white starts with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup, so it tastes lighter than a full chocolate shake. The syrup should stripe the flavor, not turn everything dark. This is soda-fountain logic that still makes sense.

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups firm vanilla ice cream
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 3 tbsp chocolate syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method

  1. Chill two tall glasses in the freezer for 10 minutes.
  2. Add the milk, vanilla, 2 tablespoons chocolate syrup and ice cream to a blender.
  3. Pulse 5 times and blend for 15 seconds until thick and pale tan.
  4. Add the remaining chocolate syrup and pulse once so dark streaks remain instead of blending completely.
  5. Pour into the cold glasses and serve immediately.
