The coziest meal, with a little bit of a kick!
Ingredients
- 1 13 oz. pack of Cajun-style smoked sausage
- 1 small yellow onion
- 2 cloves of garlic – minced (or 1 tablespoon of regular minced garlic)
- 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups of beef broth
- 1 tablespoon of Cajun seasoning
- 1 teaspoon of paprika

Directions
Begin by chopping your sausage and onions.
In a medium saucepan, cook the sausage first and allow it to sear. You want it cooked well. Add in your onions and minced garlic and cook until the onions are cooked completely.

Once everything is cooked, set everything to the side in a separate dish.
You want to cook the gravy in this same pan, because you’re going to have flavor in the pan!
Melt your butter completely. Once melted, add in the flour. You want to whisk everything and have a dough-like texture. Once you’ve achieved the texture, add in your broth slowly and whisk until you have a gravy-like consistency.
Add your seasonings and heavy cream and continue to whisk until you have the desired thickness of the gravy.
If your gravy is too thick, add an additional tablespoon of beef broth to thin it.
Once your gravy is completed, add in your sausage and onions. Mix well and allow to simmer for a few minutes on low to medium heat.
Serving Suggestions
Once completed, put your sausage gravy mix on mashed potatoes and serve with corn on the cob or any other desired veggies.
This would also be really delicious served with rice!
